Affordable Health Insurance for the Middle Class Act (S.2908) Introduced

Sample Letter
S.2908 Introduced Bill

Newly introduced S.2908 will create a higher federal cigarette tax to pay for broader access to health care. Higher tobacco taxes reduce consumption and prevalence, reducing the need for health care in the future.

This bill extends the health insurance subsidy to 600% of the federal poverty level and is paid for by a five cent increase in the federal excise tax per pack of cigarettes.

This is a win-win-win for public health!
