[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The tobacco industry has always been a major player in congressional campaigns, and it’s important to see just how pervasive tobacco money is in politics. While awareness about the harms of tobacco use has increased over the years, unfortunately Big Tobacco’s role in politics has not decreased.

The problem is getting worse. In the 2014 election cycle, Big Tobacco contributed $2.3 million to candidates. In 2012, the contributions totaled $2.1 million. For the 2016 presidential election cycle, Big Tobacco contributed OVER $2.5 million in almost every state, across the aisle. Read our Blog> to learn about why this is a serious problem.

Check out the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids’ website to see how much your state representative has received from tobacco corporations in the latest election cycle.

If your representative is one of the many who has NOT taken campaign funding from tobacco corporations, we encourage you to write, call, or tweet to thank them.

If your representatives HAVE taken tobacco money, write, call, or tweet them to explain why it’s important that they stop!
