On October 17, 2022, the Massachusetts Superior Court granted a motion to dismiss filed by the City of Brookline against a lawsuit challenging their Tobacco-Free Generation (TFG) rule.
This first-in-the-nation TFG law disallows the sale of tobacco products to anyone born this century.
This is a positive outcome for the lawsuit against the first city in the U.S. to pass a TFG law and opens the way for other Massachusetts cities to follow with endgame policies.
Congratulations to the City of Brookline for standing up to Big Tobacco, and to the team from the Public Health Advocacy Institute at Northeastern University School of Law who fought this case pro bono.
