ASH's Privacy Policy

ASH’s privacy policy is very simple and straightforward, and is designed to protect and safeguard the privacy of ASH’s members and others who may visit ASH’s web site:

1.  ASH collects only the information voluntarily provided to it by members and visitors to its site, and does not use cookies or other devices or methods to collect information surreptitiously.  This means that your privacy is protected because you share only that information which you wish to share.

2. ASH does not secretly download any hidden files, codes, commands, etc. to your computer when you access ASH’s main web page, or when you seek to download the more than 20,000 pages of information on ASH’s web site related to smoking and nonsmokers’ rights.  This means that you don’t have to be concerned about the hidden commands which you might unknowingly download from some web sites which may then transmit your private information to others.

3.  ASH uses the personal information it is given solely for the purpose of contacting people about issues related to smoking and nonsmokers’ rights.  This means that you will not be bothered by calls, letters, emails,  etc. trying to sell you products or services, or to contact you regarding any other causes or issues.

4.  ASH does not share any of your personal information with any other organization or individual. More specifically, ASH does not sell, trade, or exchange the information with other entities, share the information with telemarketers or spammers, etc.  This means that your personal information is protected from use by others, and that there is no need for you to tell ASH that you do not wish your information to be shared outside the organization.

5. Members who wish to change, supplement, or otherwise review information about themselves may contact ASH using the email addresses provided on the main page of ASH’s award-winning Internet web site, or by calling or writing to ASH at the address and/or phone number prominently shown on the same main web page.  This means that it's very easy and convenient to review or correct your information.

6. Although it is less convenient and more costly for ASH to do so, ASH – unlike many other web sites – does NOT maintain or otherwise store any personal information on-line where it could be accessed, even by clever hackers.  Personal information is stored on ASH’s own computers at our office, where it can be accessed only by ASH’s bonded full-time employees.  This means that your personal information enjoys a layer of protection and privacy not provided by many on-line merchants, credit card companies, etc. which do store personal information on line where it has on occasion been accessed by hackers.

7. For those who wish even more privacy and protection when engaging in financial transactions with ASH, ASH provides a secure page for this information.  This means that the site uses the HTTPS protocol to ensure that your information cannot be stolen by a third party between the sender (you) and the receiver (ASH).  You can tell that it is a secure page by the designation [https], and by the “lock” or other symbol on your browser program which shows that the page is secure.  This means that you can enjoy an even higher level of protection if desired.
