ASH Warns Parcel Delivery Companies Against Delivering Illegally Purchased Cigarettes

Wednesday, March 9, 2005 ASH Executive Director John Banzhaf sent a letter to 4 of the largest parcel delivery companies, warning them of potential civil and even criminal liability for their part in delivering cigarettes illegally purchased on-line. Many Internet vendors do not verify the age of purchasers and do not report sales to state tax agencies – both are required by state and federal laws.
