Action on Smoking and Health
A National Legal-Action Antismoking Organization Entirely Supported by Tax-Deductible Contributions

A new medical study, building on earlier research, has concluded that some hospitals are far riskier than others for many types of popular operations and medical procedures including coronary bypass surgery, heart transplants, several types of cancer surgery, brain aneurysm surgery, and overall treatment of HIV/AIDS.
Indeed, the study concludes that as many as 600 lives in California alone could be saved if only patients were able to avoid higher risk hospitals in favor of those which do the same procedures at far lower risks.
This is information every family should have, especially if there are family members over 50 years of age, OR younger ones with one or major risk factors such as overweight, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, prior or family history of heart or circulatory problems or cancer, etc.
As a public service, Action on Smoking and Health (ASH), a 36-year old legal-action charitable organization entirely supported by tax-deductible contributions, has put together information about this study, including how you can find the lowest-risk hospitals in your area, as well as around the country.
